Ganesha is perhaps the most beloved of Hindu gods. He is often the first god Hindu children are introduced to and always the first god invoked. He is the god of writers, transportation, wisdom, and new beginnings. Ganesha is easily identified by his elephant head and there are several stories about why he has one.
